The Keough & Sweeney partnership began in 1990, when Joe Keough and Jerry Sweeney met as first year law students at Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA. They first partnered together to win the Tom C. Clark Moot Court Competition as second year students. Their partnership continued throughout their last year of law school when they were semi-finalists in the Suffolk Third Year Mock Trial Competition and Northeast Regional Finalist in the National Mock Trial Competition. They began their legal career working in separate law firms where they developed different areas of practice. In 1997, they reformed their partnership by founding Keough & Sweeney in Pawtucket, RI. They built Keough and Sweeney with a commitment to providing partner-level attention and a personal approach to every client. Each member of the Keough & Sweeney legal team works closely with their clients to design and implement a legal strategy that best fits the needs of their case, and the issues they face. The firm is able to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering sound counsel to both individuals and businesses. With three offices throughout southern New England, Keough & Sweeney represents a large network of clients on a myriad of legal matters. (See practice areas.) Through hard work, determination and attention to detail, they have earned a reputation as a well-respected New England-based firm known for an abundance of energy, experience and talent. Your case is the most important case to you and it must be the most important case to your attorney. At Keough & Sweeney, you can be confident that your best interests are represented. |
"When I thought about giving up after an already-lengthy litigation process, Joe Keough encouraged me instead to keep fighting. He saw the merit of my case and worked with diligence to take it to trial and present it to a jury. As a result, we were awarded even more than we originally requested. I am thankful I had such dedicated representation.” - Stephen J. McCarthy, Newport Beach, CA |
"Jerry is an excellent lawyer who couples well-crafted technical skills with a sense of humor that is so often lacking in domestic relations practice. He is always prepared and quick on his feet, while remaining sensitive to the difficult issues that occur daily in the Probate and Family Courts. Jerry is a gifted litigator; however, he will always attempt to negotiate a settlement, provided that it is in the client's best interest." - Steve Hanna, Former Judicial Case Manager, Bristol County |
