Non-Licensed Rhode Island Wedding Officiant

This month one of the local stories here in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts area that has captured quite a bit of attention was the wedding officiant who was not licensed to perform weddings and who also stole from wedding attendees and others in the wedding party. People who thought their marriages were legal have found out that they are not married. This is definitely a shocking turn, but it appears that these couples did their research and found that the man that they chose to perform their ceremony was highly recommended, even voted the ‘top officiant’ in Newport County by a local magazine. It seems that even doing your due diligence on someone that you choose to perform your wedding may not work, but we want to state that doing as much research as possible is still the best course.

While our main focus here at Keough + Sweeney is on divorce, personal injury, DUI and OUI cases, and child support, we are keeping a close eye on this awful case to see what transpires. Of course, we hope that all of the affected couples are able to fix the problems this person has caused.
